Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof (Proverbs 18:21 – New King James Version) . . . The power is in your hand to choose poison or fruit (Proverbs 18:21, The Message Bible)

Your tongue plays a very important role in determining your destiny in that it conveys what your heart is feeling at any given time.  Each time we speak, we are giving birth (life) to our thoughts.  Those thoughts, over a period of time, then translate themselves into their physical equivalent . . . which will in turn affect our respective destinies.  As a suggestion, be consciously aware of every word that comes out of your mouth.

When farmers plant seeds, they are expecting a certain kind of harvest based upon the type of seed sown as well as how much they have sown.  And they know, without a doubt, that there will be a harvest, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

So, check yourself today–What words are you sowing?  Are they words that would bear positive fruit or words of poison that would negatively impact your life?  At times, the words that we repeat may not even be words that we truly believe—they may be words that we have heard over a period of years and have subliminally taken on these words as our own, only to find that they have no substantiation or meaning in our lives; but we’ve allowed these words to literally permeate our souls.  I believe that the words you speak begin to create an environment that is in direct correlation to the type of words we have spoken, thus creating changes in our future.

Being that we are made in the image of Almighty God, we have the power to create or destroy the things in our lives.  We also have the power to change our circumstances, but it begins in our “thought life”.

I challenge you today to sow (speak) positive words to your life (asking God for his help and guidance) . . . And watch over a period of time how your life will change for the better.

God bless you and grant you peace.  🙂

God’s Grace is Sufficient!

The Word of God says . . . My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness (2nd Corin. 12:9).  Many times, we as human beings, think that we know everything about everything.  When, in fact, many times we really know nothing, especially in relation to Almighty God.  It is not to negate our intelligence, but we need to realize who we are in God’s eyes.  We are God’s special creation . . . He has made us in His own image and has given us dominion over the Earth; but . . . He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust (Psalm 103:14).  God also says in Isaiah 55:8-9, For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

At times we are so eager to spread our wings like the way we did when we were teenagers . . . Remember?  We couldn’t wait to grow up . . . to move out and be on our own—thinking that we knew better than our parents.  As children, we do not see the hidden dangers or obstacles that are possibly ahead.  It is only after we have matured to a certain level that we realize that our parents were right.  So it is with God . . . God knows our end from the beginning. He says, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

God’s got you!

He says in Proverbs 3:5, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.  Imagine for a moment that you were blindfolded in an unfamiliar place, unable to see your next step . . . unable to see what was around the corner or behind that door.  And all you heard was a voice that promised to lead you to safety . . . to guide you every step of the way to your destination.  That is what God is like . . . He will be our guide through unfamiliar territory, if we allow Him.  That “unfamiliar territory” being our lives.  God in His infinite mercy, grace and love, watches over us all day long like an overprotective Papa.  He says in Proverbs 3:5, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. And to top it off, His Word says, For He shall give his angels charge to keep us in all our ways (Psalm 91:11-12).  What a wonderful assurance of protection.  This is not to say that the enemy is not out there constantly creating obstacles to trip us up, but we are protected under God’s umbrella.

Can you even fathom having to oversee the well-being of billions of people, every moment of every day?  God knows every single (unique) person that He has created . . . even knowing the number of hair strands on their head, at any given moment, 🙂 . . . as well as knowing their character traits.  Now that is attention to detail.  Our minds cannot even begin to comprehend the mind of Almighty God.  God has the ability to be everywhere . . . solving problem after problem, hearing all our prayers, and meeting our needs.  The list is way too long to enumerate what God has done for us and is doing for us.  God told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5, Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.   Being that God knows these minute, vitally important details of each of our lives, should we not trust Him?

So rest assured that His grace is sufficient to keep you.

May God bless you and grant you peace. 🙂

Today’s Topic: Are You Protected?

Before I begin, I want to thank all of my loyal followers who read my Blog—it is for you that I write.  Writing from the heart, as I hear the voice of Almighty God, I am grateful for the voice that God has given me at this stage in my life.

On to today’s topic . . . Are You Protected? . . .

What is man? Man is a tripartite being:  Man is a spirit, who has a soul, which is housed in a body or flesh.  We are born of the seed of Adam, an exact replica of him, made in the image of Almighty God.

As a result, we as spiritual human beings, seem to be caught in the midst of a spiritual warfare between God and satan. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:12 . . . “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”  So being that we are spiritual beings, our spirits are continuously under attack by satan to destroy us.

But God, in His infinite wisdom, has provided a spiritual solution through His word . . . Ephesians 6:10-11; 14-18 says . . . “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil . . . Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.”

As you decide to protect yourself (or not), I leave you with one of my Poetic Inspirations called, “Spiritual Warfare” . . .

I pray that God will bless you and grant you peace.  🙂

P.S. John 3:16-17 says . . . For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son (Jesus), that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Today’s Topic: Is social media really making us social?

Being social means to live in companionship with others or in a community rather than in isolation (Merriam Webster’s definition).

Being social is an innate characteristic that we, as human beings, possess.  As babies, although we are unable to verbalize our feelings, we still require social interaction.  It doesn’t matter that the baby is fed, its diaper’s changed or that he/she is in a comfortable environment–we still need to be touched, held, spoken to, smiled at, laughed with–it is what we thrive on.

In my opinion, there seems to be a dis-connect in our current society (a derivative of the word social).  Nine out of ten people are walking around with their faces glued to a cell phone or some type of electronic device.  Most people are not even paying attention to their immediate surroundings.  There even seems to be a lack of socialization in many homes–a lot of families are “physically” in the same house, but they are socially disconnected–here again, everyone is connected to some type of device, and have created an artificial type of socialization, thereby creating a certain level of isolation.

So, instead of utilizing artificial socialization, why not pick up a phone and really talk to a friend . . . meet up with your friends (face-to-face) or have a meal together with your family, and truly socialize.  🙂

This is all food for thought as I end with one of my Poetic Inspirations . . .

God bless you and grant you peace.  🙂

Today’s Topic: Take Responsibility . . .

Why do we blame God for everything gone wrong in our lives?  When things are going good in our lives, we seem to forget that He exists; however, when things start to go wrong, then we remember Him and then blame Him.  We seem to forget that we play an integral role in getting ourselves into the “mess” that we are in or that we live in an imperfect world.

God has given us dominion over the Earth and authority over our lives, even though He has the power to take his breath back at any time . . . Isn’t He merciful?  You, with the help and blessing of Almighty God, have the power to change any situation in your life, but it begins by taking responsibility for your actions and owning up to your contributions to the matter.

My Pastor, Dr. Michael A. Freeman, Spirit of Faith Christian Center, says that Something happens . . . Time passes . . . Then something happens . . . in other words, when you sow/plant a seed (good or bad) . . . time passes . . . then you reap the harvest of that sown/planted seed.

So take responsibility for your life today, and watch over a period of time how it will change . . . the direction, however, is determined by You.

If you keep God first in your life, you will never be disappointed.  God bless you and grant you peace.  🙂

You are BIGGER than your circumstances!

Why are you allowing your circumstances to get the better of you?  It is as though you have given up and literally made the decision to sink .  NEWSFLASH!! You were made in God’s image . . . therefore, you have the power within you to overcome any situation.  As you have mentally made the decision to “sink” . . . you can make the same decision to “swim“.  Stop operating in fear, which is False Evidence Appearing Real, and begin to operate in FAITH, which is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seenFaith provides hope, vision and strength, whereas Fear creates despair, sadness and defeat.  I sincerely hope that you will choose Faith over fear.  God bless you and grant you peace.  🙂

Many of you at this moment may be thinking of throwing in the towel . . . be it your marriage . . . your job . . . your unhappy situation . . . your “crazy” circumstances . . . your lack of finances . . . your children are out of control . . . you are unemployed . . . not knowing where your next meal will come from . . . even considering taking your own life (God forbid) . . . your mind is so cluttered with a thousand thoughts . . . you are just trying to make sense of it all.

In Ecclesiastes 1:9 in the Bible, it says . . . There’s nothing new on this earth. Meaning that somewhere in the world someone else is going through or have gone through what you are going through right now, and they have survived it.

Just STOP for a few moments . . . take a few deep breaths . . . and for the next few minutes, envision yourself outside of that situation . . . envision the problems or issues resolved . . . . I believe that there is a solution to every problem or issue you may have.  The Bible says that there is no new thing under the sun . . . there are no “new” problems or issues . . . they are relatively the same, but they are just packaged differently.

For a few minutes, envision yourself “out of that situation” . . . With the help of Almighty God, I believe that He will help you to find a solution . . . the only thing you need to do is to NOT GIVE UP!!!  Your life can change in a matter of seconds, minutes, hours.  Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 says, to everything there is a season . . . meaning that your particular situation will not last forever . . . it is only for a season–for a while.

You are resilient . . . .You are a fighter . . . know that we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us (Romans 8:37).

I pray God’s blessings and peace upon your lives.  🙂

Today’s Focus . . . It’s Not Just About You!

So many of us are currently in or have been exposed to a vicious cycle of sorts.  The word vicious connotes being dangerously aggressive or intentionally harmful.  Vicious cycles can be emotional, psychological, physical or physiological.   Vicious cycles come in various forms:  alcoholism, smoking, drugs, domestic violence, childhood or elder abuse, obesity, co-dependency, eating disorders, bullying, gambling, isolation, cutting oneself, violence, etc., . . . the list seems endless.

When you perpetuate a vicious cycle, it not only affects you, but it also affects the people in your immediate environment, possibly for generations to come.  This negative behavior permeates one’s mind and spirit, so much so that it becomes second nature to them  . . . and thus, in most cases, they then repeat the same harmful and/or destructive behavior. But YOU have the power to take that first courageous step in making this change, realizing that it is not just about you!  Seek out counseling and/or advice from your health-care professional or spiritual adviser.

I pray that with the help of Almighty God and the words from my Poetic Inspiration that follows, that it will inspire you to take this step . . . God bless you and grant you peace.  🙂Stop the Vicious Cycle-3-4-15

Today’s Focus: The Power of Being “Positively” Consistent . . .

Being consistent, according to Oxford Dictionary’s definition, is “the quality of achieving a level of performance which does vary greatly in quality over time.”

Living a positively consistent life not only improves your life, but it also affects those around you , directly or indirectly.  You are unknowingly a role model for those in your immediate environment.  I stress on the word “positively” as one can be “negatively” consistent as well, which could lead to defeat.  However, for most people, being consistent connotes positive improvement over a period of time.

Being positively consistent enables you to:

  • establish and maintain trust
  • form habits that hopefully lead to success
  • stay focused on your goal(s)
  • develop routines . . . making you more productive
  • measure how effective you are in specific areas of your life (i.e. weight loss journey, your finances, raising your children, your education, or overall self-improvement, to name a few)

Keeping in mind that “what you do speaks louder than what you actually say”, take a step in the right direction today by being positively consistent.  It will enable you to create positive habits over time . . . which in turn develops a level of discipline . . . and discipline leads to a successful life.

Jesus, our example-setter, was always positively consistent . . . He did not come to destroy the law, but to uphold and fulfill the law . . . He always made sure that His word matched up with His actions and with what His Father, Almighty God said.  God says that “He is the same yesterday, today and forever, He changes not” . . . That’s consistency!  His promises are true for He will never let you down.  So ask God to help you as you practice some tips on being positively consistent . . .

Wishing you the very best as you begin your positively consistent journey.  May God bless you and grant you peace.  🙂

Today’s Focus: A Simple, Yet Powerful Prayer . . .

Father, I know You are in control of the world even when I feel that my life is out of control. Help me to trust in Your incredible ability to care for each detail of my life. Thank You for taking the time to count all the hairs on my head! I know You love me, and I believe that my worth to You is of greater value than many sparrows. I pray that the reality of this truth will seep deeper into my heart today.  In the name of your beloved Son, Jesus, I pray, Amen.
